Frequently asked questions
How do I compress PowerPoint without losing quality?
Pick High quality mode: images are only resized when they exceed 2560 px and are re-encoded at 90% quality, so slides look identical on screen. For email, Balanced (80%) is visually lossless in practice.
Why is my old .ppt file not supported?
.ppt is the old binary PowerPoint format, not a ZIP container, so browsers cannot edit it. Open it in PowerPoint and use Save As → .pptx, then drop it here.
Why didn't the file shrink much?
PPT size mainly comes from images. If your deck is mostly text, charts or embedded video, image recompression has little effect — replace or re-encode the video first, then compress.
What about embedded video and audio?
Videos and audio are not re-compressed in v1; they are usually the single largest part of a deck. Compress the video with a dedicated tool, embed the smaller file, then run this tool for the images.
The process is slow for large files — is it stuck?
